When best friends, Ava and Mina, experiment with a viral-internet trend called “timeline shifting.” What begins as a curious shared experience slowly veers into the unsettling, testing their friendship and their sense of reality.






 
Bashir’s film fuses speculative storytelling with intimate realism. Through subtle performances and dreamlike cinematography, A Sweetness of Lapse transforms the sci-fi idea of alternate timelines into a metaphor for grief and rebirth and examines the ways we attempt to rewrite our own histories, to bring back what’s been lost, and hold on to one.
